Mobile Money: USSD

Have you heard of a mobile money service called USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data)?

USSD is an “instant messaging type” phone service with quick response times, but unlike an SMS, USSD transactions occur only during the session and have no store-and-forward capability. This mobile financial service allows you to transfer money and airtime to friends and family through their phone.

USSD technology is trusted throughout Africa as the fastest way to transfer money. Within South Africa, I would check out Inter Africa for their USSD service, which after you place your first order then this service is available to you. Otherwise, another mobile money option is Mukuru.com to send cash for instant collection to Zimbabwe.
